Poets in Nigeria ia a basket of initiatives for which POETOURISM is one. Its objective is to expose poets and literary minds to enthralling destinations that should educate, enlighten and inspire them to capture their thoughts and experiences in *poetic light*.

Yearly, places visited are creatively promoted. It’s a promotion of tourism via poetry and poetry via tourism. The end result is a win for Poets, poetry,Tourism and society.

POETOURISM is basically carved out for all ages, lovers of poetry, artifacts and nature. It’s an opportunity to meet other poets around the globe, interact, learn and explore.

Some of the previous places visited were: Epe resort, Epe, Lagos, Niger Delta Hall of Fame and OYASAF facility respectively in Lagos, and the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Arts, Pan African University, Lagos.

For the fact that history as a subject is not being given attention in our academic curriculum, lots of young poets are lost to what makes us think as a multi ethnic, multi-culturally blessed nation whose benefits of diversity are largely untapped. It was therefore a world of blessing and relief to the organizers of POETOURISM 2020 and beyond to have participants exposed to a body of art, culture, history, and tourism domiciled in OYASAF- Nigeria’s largest private art collection. Established and funded by Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon.

Join us in the 2024 POETOURISM. This time, participants will visit various historical centres in Badagry, Lagos alongside a walk for poetry, campfire/Night of poetry, art and lots more. This tour will also commemorate World Poetry Day.

Date: Saturday 23rd March, 2024.
